The care of five women who died whilst under the maternity care of Sandwell and West Birmingham Hospitals Trust has been reviewed, according to the BBC.
All five women died over a two-year period, either during pregnancy, during childbirth or within one month of their baby’s birth.
The report apparently found that ‘best practice’ had not always been followed although the health trust observed that there was no evidence that the deaths were preventable.
Nonetheless, the Trust is looking at how they can learn from these incidents and improve practice.
