Urology Negligence

Bladder Surgery & Bladder Cancer Delayed/ Misdiagnosis

Problems involving the bladder have two main causes that can lead to a medical negligence claim, surgery complications and cancer. Each one may lead to a successful claim for private treatment and cancer compensation.

Bladder Surgery Complications

Surgery always carries some element of risk. This risk should be explained to you before surgery so that you can make an informed decision about whether you wish to proceed. If the risk is not explained, or you undergo surgery and suffer complications, either to the bladder itself or surrounding organs or tissue, you may be able to claim compensation.

We offer free initial consultations so that you can discover your options. You are under no obligation to claim once you have spoken with us, so please do call us on 0800 234 3300 (or from a mobile 01275 334030) if you would like an opinion.

Bladder Cancer (Failure To Diagnose Or Late Diagnosis)

Failure to diagnose cancer or misdiagnosis of bladder cancer can sadly lead to severe complications, including loss of function, pain and suffering and even loss of life expectancy.

Failure to diagnost cancer can lead to a medical negligence if a patient complains of pain or blood in their urine and their doctor either fails to carry out the necessary tests, or carries out the tests but does not recognise the signs of cancer. If you are having bladder problems your doctor will usually refer you to a urologist and a cystoscopy may be carried out. A cystoscopy allows a doctor to examine your bladder using a thin telescope which is placed inside the urethra.

Bladder cancer is usually treatable so if is identified early a full recovery can be expected. However, failure to diagnose or a delayed diagnosis can lead to the complications above.
