This week the NHS has launched a campaign aimed at highlighting the possible benefits of asking a pharmacist for advice in relation to minor illnesses.
Most pharmacies, run by trained medical professionals, are easily accessible and offer a ‘turn up on the day’ service and consultation.
The campaign, under the banner ‘Help Us Help You’ is encouraging the public to consider approaching the pharmacist for advice and, where appropriate, over-the counter medication, for conditions such as a cold, earache, sore throat, itchy eyes, cystitis and aches and pains as well as other minor and non-urgent conditions.
The NHS is keen to ensure that the public are aware of opportunities for medical advice and support other than the GP surgery or Accident and Emergency which have been under increasing pressure over the last couple of years.
