After months of discussions and consultations, NHS health-workers voted in June to accept the pay deal being offered by the government.
Now that they have received their July pay slips, many have found that the deal is not exactly what they had been led to believe.
Although many NHS workers thought that they would receive a 3% pay increase from July this year, backdated to April, many have found that not to be the case and there is considerable confusion over exactly what the deal represents.
According to this weekend’s Observer, some NHS workers have even found that they have suffered a pay cut in real terms.
The Royal College of Nursing has apologised to its members for misleading them and, according to their website, has promised to ‘fight the corner of members at every turn.’
