An independent review has been commissioned into deaths at the A&E department of Russells Hall Hospital in the West Midlands, according to a new report by the BBC.
A recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission has raised significant concerns regarding the management of patients attending the A&E department at the hospital. Their criticisms of the service included concerns about waiting times, staff knowledge, patient management, maintenance of patient records and responses to sepsis within the department.
According to the BBC report, 54 patients died in the hospital’s A&E department over a six month period.
